New Assistant Coach Joins Boston Fleet in PWHL

New Hire Brings Experienced Leadership to PWHL Club

The Boston Fleet have added a new assistant coach to their staff, hiring former Innsbruck HC bench boss Jordan Smotherman. Smotherman, a 39-year-old American, parted ways with the Austrian club over the summer for personal reasons.

Now, he'll be making the jump to women's professional hockey, joining the Fleet in the Premier Women's Hockey League (PWHL). Smotherman will reunite with a familiar face in Boston - national team player T, who he previously coached in Austria.

Griffins Goalie Shines in Home Debut

Elsewhere in the hockey world, Grand Rapids Griffins rookie goaltender Michal Postava made a strong first impression at home on Saturday. The Czech netminder turned aside 35 shots to lead the Griffins to a 4-2 victory over the Manitoba Moose.

Postava's performance made him just the eighth rookie goalie in Griffins history to win his home debut. The young keeper joined an elite group, showcasing his potential for the AHL club.
